Autumn In Shenandoah NP {a photo blog}

I have been waiting so long to see the glorious splendor that is Fall in the East! We still have not hit our peak down here in the valley, but the mountains were peaking during the rainy 5 days we had. And Shenandoah National Park was peaking while it was closed from the Government Shutdown. This was the first weekend it was open, and we were blessed with a wonderful sunny (but cool) day, so J and I headed for the park to see if we could capture the beauty of nature! We started in the south of the park, and the colors got better as we headed north. These are a few of my favorite shots from the trip. If you want to see them all, you can head on over to my travel blog!

You will notice that I like to take pictures of roads! I think they add interest. They draw the eye and make the viewer wonder what’s around the corner or over the hill. I also like to break up my photos using a foreground and background, and off-center. It’s all about visual weight and taking a balanced shot. I have been working on my technique for a long time, and I still have a lot to learn! I used my CPL filter for the first time and was completely thrilled with the result! I don’t think I will ever take this filter off my camera! {unless maybe I get a new polarizer filter} It really saturated the color and reduced the glare from bright shots. I love it!

I hope you enjoy these shots! Happy Fall Y’all! 🙂

  3. What beautiful pictures❣️

    I love fall, but dread the season that follows. 🥶

    When Garry and I traveled, it was difficult to take photos. Garry wasn’t a picture taker. He always encouraged me to stop, but by the time I found a safe place to pull over, the “photo opportunity” passed.

    Thank you for sharing your travels. 😊
