Fall Rains

I have been looking forward to Fall in Virginia ever since we found out it was to be our destination! I have been keeping an eye on the Fall Foliage Reports, and was hoping to get out this weekend and snap some shots. The weather had other ideas, unfortunately. It has been raining for the past 5 days! Not a heavy rain, but steady-ish. We have inadvertently been keeping measure of it from the upturned kitty litter box on our deck that serves as our dogs’ water dish. It’s about 2-1/2 inches since Wednesday.

The rain is such fine drops, its almost like a mist, and when it comes down hard, it gives the look of falling snow. Wishful thinking maybe. I haven’t had snow in at least 4 years, so I am hoping for it!
Hard to believe that just last week it was a warm, sunny, and almost 90º day at the fair! We still need to refinish the top deck, so need a nice stretch of dry and sunny to do it. At least it appears that I did a good job on the bottom deck…water is beading nicely!

Some of the trees have changed already and are shedding their leaves. I’m hoping that next weekend will be nice, and the colors will be ripe for the shooting!

My rose bushes do not like the cold rain for sure!

My mums don’t seem to mind though! 🙂

And I think the holly bushes rather like it!

The pumpkins are totally indifferent!

The good news is I finally charged the battery for my DLSR, so am ready for shooting when the opportunity arises! 😉
{also…Halloween decorating is on the agenda in the very near future!} o.O

  1. Yay for future Halloween decorating! I was starting to worry about you. 😉 I'm pretty jealous of the rain you're getting, but I'll take our lower temps as good enough news. Hope the weather clears up so you can take some good pictures.
