Steady As She Goes

I realize that I have not posted many photos since we moved into the house over a week ago, so let me explain. We just do not fit into this house the way we fit into our Arizona house. It’s taking some time to figure out where everything is going to go, and we’ve had to purchase some new items that we are still waiting on delivery. Couple that with the fact that our hardware to put together the some of the furniture we do have is still missing. So I have a pile of collectables on my kitchen table with no where to put them. My kitchen table is too big for the space, so it is being replaced by a smaller, regular height table. Our large entertainment wall is too big for the family room with the fireplace, so it had to go in the basement, along with our leather furniture. So that leaves a big ole empty family room upstairs. The sectional we purchased will be delivered this week, but we still will need tables (since I sold all of mine before we left AZ) and rugs. Rugs. This dark hardwood is beautiful! However, the previous owner put some kind of shiny wax or something on them and they scratch so easily from the dogs! So we need to get some rugs to protect the floor, and I am picky so it’s taken a long time to find something I like that does not cost a leg and 2 fingers! We got the dining room furniture last week (yay!) and the kitchen table/chairs will be another 4-ish weeks. I have to get new curtains and rods since the previous owner decided to take them (even though it was in the contract that they stay!) I think it would cost more to sue her for breach of contract than it would to just replace them. Jeremy shampooed the lower stairs over the weekend (the whole basement reeks of dog and the stairs were the worst! Plus they were visibly stained) and we got to see just how gross they were! The dirty water was nasty! And the stairs still look a bit grungy! I think it’s safe to say that the carpet in here had never been shampooed! So…I will be looking into getting them done since I think it would take about 3 passes with our shampooer to get all the dog stink out!

For those of you who may be curious about my job hunt progression, well I have not even started. Originally, I was hoping to start around Aug 1 because I wanted to get into the house and get settled before starting a new process. Well that got pushed back to Sep 1 when our closing got pushed back, and now that it is taking so long to settle, it doesn’t look like Sep 1 will be happening either. Truthfully though, I’m not in a hurry to go get a job. At this point, it’s more of a “should do” than a “want to do”. I like being a stay at home wife! But if we are going to travel like we want, and if J is going to get a new car, then I need to bring in some $$. :/ So I need to get the ball rolling at least. Update my driver’s license and nursing license, update my resume, and start searching. I aim to get that much going in the next couple weeks. Which probably means that in 2 weeks I will spend 2 days doing it all! Ha ha! Procrastinators unite!…tomorrow! 😉

New dining room set! Just need curtains…and a new light fixture eventually! 🙂

This table is too big to fit here!

Family room will get furniture this week!

Eek with the scratches! This wax she has on it scratches too easy. The parts with no wax still look beautiful! Any ideas how to remove the wax?

Where our old living room furniture ended up…in the basement “media room”. Think it’s going to be the “man cave”. J has sort of taken it over. lol!

  1. Sounds like it's slowly coming together due to the jerks that moved you! Hope things start falling in to place once you get your new furniture. It would drive me nuts to be there for a week and not have everything set up yet, or a way to have everything set up. I do love your makeshift living room though. 😉
