The Old Switcheroo!!

We have been about a week in our house and it is just now starting to feel like ours. Starting to smell like ours. Let me just say…her dogs stunk! And the carpet stinks! There is much I could gripe about, but I’m not going to bother with it here. Living in VA is going to be quite the experience I think. A few days after we moved in, a couple who live down the street brought over fresh-baked cookies. (!!) I lived next to all my neighbors in AZ for 4 years and did not even know their names!! People are so neighborly here. It’s like Tool Time…with Tim and Wilson. We were walking the dogs the other day and a little boy came running out of his garage, waved at us, then ran back in. Two women passed us on their jog, and one made a point to turn around and wave to us as she passed. I was just standing outside picking up the poop and had a guy from a block up stop on his dog walk and talk my ear of for 20 minutes. I am not used to this!! I don’t even know how to respond! A wave, ok…I can respond to that. But cookies?!? Am I supposed to make them cookies now? I don’t know!! I feel like I just landed in Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood! And if you know me, you know I am SO not the Mr. Rogers type. I want to know my neighbor’s and be neighborly, but damned if I know how to go about it without being creepy…or worse, rude! I’m sure they already think I am rude. I don’t stop what I’m doing and wave when someone walks, or drives by…or when I pass them on the road. I know I have some friends with exceptional social etiquette…so help!! lol!

In other news, I’m thinking about changing the name of my blog. Doing the music is just to much work to be worth it. I’ll probably still post some, but not exclusively. Any suggestions for a blog name? I was thinking, “How to Make a Million Dollars and other useless information” ha ha!

  1. I'm so glad that your neighbors are so friendly and welcoming! We have the same experience as you did while living in AZ. We share stairs with our neighbor and if either of us walk out when they are out there, they shut the door and wait for us to leave. So strange here. Your neighbors sound amazing. Especially the one that made you cookies! 😉 You don't need to make her cookies, but a cute little thank you card would probably be enough of a thanks! I'm sure those small town moments of smiling and waving at someone as they pass by will all naturally come back to you. 🙂 As for the new name suggestion of your blog…I like it! 🙂
