The Jefferson Hotel Richmond {A Photo Tour}

For my birthday this year, my wonderful husband surprised me with a night out! We went to dinner and a play in Richmond, and he got us a room at a fancy schmancy hotel, The Jefferson.

And who doesn’t want to see inside a fancy hotel?? Anyone? Only me?

Ever since I was little I have been awed by fancy hotels and architecture.

This hotel is 5-star all the way! They provide Linus bikes to use at your pleasure. The complementary car service that will shuttle you to, and from, anywhere in the downtown area is a Mercedes. The toilet paper is made of spun cotton and the water is scented with lavender. Ok maybe those last 2 were just my imagination! 😛

I blame Pretty Woman and Home Alone. Regent Beverly Wilshire and The Plaza anyone?  Haha!

Anyway…we don’t always stay in fancy hotels, but when we do, we walk around like amateurs and take a ton of photos! 😀

The Jefferson was opened in 1895, and since has bedded 13 Presidents, including the current. It is the place to stay for the rich, famous, dignitaries, and people on a date night. 😉

When the Jefferson first opened, there were marble pools around the base of this statue, and they housed alligators! Live ones! I have no idea why. People just brought in pet alligators, then more people donated their pet alligators. Totally random. The last alligator died in 1948, and the bronze alligator remains at the entrance to honor their history.

The coffee maker was a Nespresso machine and it was super loud! Not a good choice when one of us is always awake much earlier than the other!
TV in the mirror! This is the first time I have ever seen this and I was totally enamored by it!
I use stays at fancy hotels to form the list of what my dream house will have. Along with a mirror TV, my house will have a shower with one of these heavy glass doors!
Of course I took advantage of the tub! With a mirror tv and plush bath robes, how could you not??
Oh just your average toiletries…lotion, soap, shower cap, shoe shine cloth, sewing kit…
…shampoo, conditioner, body wash, loofah.
Even the key holder was fancy! It was like a little leather passport! It had phone numbers to the concierge, a map, and various other informative things.
We took a walk around the hotel to see the various other rooms. The pool was the only normal thing. It was just a pool. Nothing fancy. Well, except for the towels maybe.

  1. What an amazing and beautiful Hotel! The alligator thing is a little strange and not so sure I would be getting a good nights sleep if they were still housing them. Ha ha. I'm so glad you were pampered with such an awesome gift! Good job to your Hubs!
