Anyone who knows me knows I have an addiction to music! All music. Or most kinds of music anyway. I’m not prejudiced, but I like songs that I can relate to, songs that touch me, songs that I can jam out to, songs that remind me of a time and place from my history…and these songs tend to encompass all genres. Since SongPop has come into my life I am getting reacquainted with some amazing music that I have not heard in years!! I have a lengthy playlist and my iPod and iPhone have this great feature to show me the “top played” songs, so I thought….how about a top ten!! Who doesn’t like a countdown anyway??? So here I am initiating my Top Ten….well starting with 10 and we’ll go from there. I’m not sure if this will be a hit or a flop, but I will have fun with it either way! 😉 I was going to do this post on Sundays, but it I wouldn’t be accurately representing my blog address if I did that! So, better late than never!
1. Muse- Madness: Easy to say that is one of my new favorite songs! I listen to it on a loop! Love the power of it. Amazing!!
2. Mumford & Sons- I will Wait: Another one of my new fav’s! I have loved this band for a while, and their newest song does not disappoint! I really like the folk approach. Much feeling from this song!
3.Mud Pill Palace -Gone in My Direction: To be fair, I have a “sleep” playlist that has about 100 songs on it and each one of them is played every night. This is on that playlist. However, this song stands out to me because it is so potent and bluesy ..I love it! PLUS, it is from a Bozeman, MT band in which the lead singer is the hubs of a friend…so extra love!
4. Maroon 5- Come Away to the Water (Hunger Games Soundtrack): Another from my sleep playlist. Also, as all my friends have heard I’m sure, I LOVE the entire Hunger Games Soundtrack! Amazing album!!
5. Of Monsters of Men- Little Talks: Another that has a bit of folk rock to it. I think this song is really fun and I love to sing it! The video is pretty entertaining too!
6. Fun.- Some Nights: This song is very broadway to me…anthem like…and I love that! It’s a good song to sing loud to and forget who’s watching! 😉
6. Carrie Underwood- Blown Away: I have always liked Carrie Underwood, but it’s rare that one of her songs reins me in enough to be played over and over…this song does that! It has a bit of a dark side and some sharps. Pretty powerful!
7. Phillip Phillips- Home: American Idol winners rarely make my iPod, but I love this song! Again, another folk inspired song that tugs at my strings!
8. Paul McCartney- My Valentie: Another from my “sleep” playlist. So bluesy and soulful…it pulls right at my heart!
9. AWOLNATION- Sail: Oh man do I love this song!! I love the bass, I love the darkness, the depth of it…I love cranking while driving to clinical at 4 am! Love love love it!! (The video is…eh?? lol!)
10. Miranda Lambert- Over You: Such a beautiful, sweet, and powerful song! It makes my heart hurt! So amazing!!
